Two Killed As Armed Robbers Attack Banks In Kogi

There was tension in the Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State earlier on Thursday after gunmen launched an assault on two commercial banks in Anyigba.
The robbery incident resulted in the deaths of one security officer and one civilian.
The incident, captured in a video that has circulated widely on social media, occurred around five o’clock in the evening on Thursday.

Witnesses reported hearing sporadic gunshots throughout the operation. Upon their arrival in the town, the robbers initially targeted the police station situated along Anyigba-Idah road, where they fatally shot a policeman identified as Idoko.
The deceased officer had recently been assigned to the station and hailed from Iyale, a nearby town within the same local government area.
Another casualty of the attack was a man known as Alagama, who operated a small business selling goods at the roundabout in Anyigba, just a short distance from the scene of the violent incident. Tragically, he was struck and killed by a stray bullet during the robbery.

The individual who witnessed the incident additionally mentioned that the armed individuals trailed the armored vehicle until it reached their base in Anyigba. Once there, they deactivated the security systems and proceeded to take away all the money.
In a separate incident, another group, allegedly affiliated with the criminals, forcefully entered the First Bank in the town and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.
However, the State Police Command has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident as of the time of filing this report.
