Suspected Bandits Kill 16 In Fresh Benue attack
A group of gunmen suspected to be bandits have reportedly attacked several communities in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State, resulting in the tragic loss of 16 lives.
Reports revealed that the unfortunate incident occurred just a day after rival militia groups unleashed terror on the Gbagir community in Ukum LG, claiming the lives of at least 40 individuals.
The recent attack, which took place on Thursday, witnessed the bandits going on a killing spree and targeting approximately 11 communities. In response to this distressing situation, the state deputy governor, Sam Ode, along with security chiefs, have conducted an on-site assessment of the affected area.
However, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, has assured journalists that she will provide further details regarding the incident once the Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, returns from his visit to the troubled region.
