The All Africa Music Awards’ AFRIMA 2025 Patron’s Dinner with the worldwide jury took place in Lagos on a stunning evening of style, coziness, and joy.
Policymakers, leaders of the African creative economy, music executives, artists, members of the media, and AFRIMA’s international jurors from 14 countries—who are in charge of guaranteeing the legitimacy of Africa’s international music awards—all attended the event.
Bisi Onasanya, Chairman of The Address Homes and Patron of AFRIMA, hosted the occasion.
Jurors from the Diaspora and the five African regions participated in this year’s jury session. They diligently spent more than a week choosing nominees from 10,717 submissions for AFRIMA 2025. After the adjudication procedure is over, the nominees list will be made public today, August 24.
Leading a powerful delegation of leaders to the event, Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa commended AFRIMA’s worldwide influence.
“AFRIMA is proof that Nigeria’s creative industry has advanced to a worldwide level despite a lack of robust government support.” We take pride in its values and the contributions it has made to Africa and the world by showcasing its identity, culture, language, and music. We will keep supporting projects like these as a government, she said, not only because they honor art but also because they boost the economy and bring people together.
Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture Toke Benson-Awoyinka, speaking on behalf of the Lagos State Government, reassured African fans, artists, and stakeholders that the state is ready to welcome the continent and the rest of the world.
“I think we are in the right place at the right time,” stated Benson-Awoyinka, who was accompanied at the occasion by Gbenga Omotosho, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy. This is a great honor for those of us in Lagos; it is not simply another event. We are prepared to welcome the entire continent and the globe to our city for this fantastic event, which has earned us the title of “Africa’s cultural and entertainment capital.”
The Federal Government of Nigeria, the Official Host City, Lagos State, and the African Union Commission are working together to organize AFRIMA 2025.
The patron stated that the goal is to leave a lasting legacy and provide the greatest event to date. He was joined at the ceremony by his wife, Olufunke Onasanya, as well as relatives, friends, and business magnate, Musa Danjuma, and Dayo Adeola.
Mike Dada, the creator and president of AFRIMA, expressed gratitude to the jury, sponsors, and innovative stakeholders for their contributions to the organization’s continued success and expansion.
