Gov Adeleke Appoints Another Owa of Igbajo
The executive Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has given his approval for the appointment of Dr Ademola Makinde as the new Owa of Igbajo.
Oba Famodun was previously appointed by the former administration following his nomination by the town’s kingmakers. Nonetheless, Adeleke contested this decision and employed warrant chiefs to choose the new king last Friday.
Despite this, Oba Famodun has maintained that he is still the Owa of Igbajo and will continue to rule until a court of law states otherwise.
In a statement released, however, on Monday morning by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, Adeleke emphasized that the selection of the new Owa was made during the Executive Meeting at the Exco Chambers, adhering to due process, chieftaincy law, and tradition.
“Governor Ademola Adeleke at the Executive Meeting congratulated the new Owa of Igbajo and tasked him to heal the wounds of the selection process by ensuring inclusive traditional governance.
“I urge him to embark on reconciliation and restore the dignity and integrity of the traditional institution,” he said.
