Jenni Hermoso intends to appeal the verdict in the case against Luis Rubiales, the former Spanish football chief.
This decision follows Rubiales’ conviction for forcibly kissing the Women’s World Cup-winning player, for which he received a fine.
As confirmed by her lawyer, Angel Chavarria, Hermoso plans to challenge the ruling.
The appeal will come in response to the court’s decision, which found Rubiales guilty of sexual assault and imposed a 10,800 euro fine.
Notably, the judge did not impose a prison sentence, despite prosecutors having sought a two-and-a-half-year term.
This proposed sentence included one year for sexual assault and 18 months for coercion, stemming from allegations that Rubiales pressured Hermoso to minimize the incident’s significance.
Rubiales himself has already stated his intent to appeal the verdict.
