I gave up my profession to support Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy’s success – Eedris Abdulkareem
The story of Eedris Abdulkareem’s notorious altercation with American rapper 50 Cent is told.
Eedris describes how he got into the well-known altercation with 50 Cent.
Nigerian hip-hop legend Eedris Abbdulkareem made waves with his music in the 2000s and greatly influenced the development and commercialization of rap in that country.
Eedris Abdulkareem of the Honest Bunch Podcast recounted the controversial plane incident involving American rapper 50 Cent.
Eedris Abdulkareem got into a brawl with American rapper 50 Cent, who was the tour’s main act and the hottest rapper in the world, over a seat on an airplane while they were performing together at the Nigerian Breweries music venue.
Eedris claims he was seated in the business class area of the aircraft, which the crew of 50 Cent insisted was reserved for the American rapper. Eedris Abdulkareem insisted on staying in the business class since, in his words, he had already signed a contract with the Nigerian Breweries guaranteeing him the same treatment as 50 Cent.
A physical altercation ensued, which Eedris asserted was captured on camera by seasoned cinematographer DJ Tee.
President Obasanjo was made aware of the occurrence and directed the Inspector General of Police to intervene after it was widely publicized.
Eedris Abdulkareem claims that following the event, he approached Charlie Boy, the then-president of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, for help in defending his legal rights by using the DJ Tee recording.
Eedris asserted on the podcast that Charlie Boy had deceived him and had instead utilized the video to work out a deal for himself. Additionally, Eedris described how the incident damaged his career, as three days later, Charlie Boy put him on his blacklist.
The seasoned rapper talked about the event and said that although it hurt his career, he has no regrets. He thought it was a sacrifice for the industry’s benefit because of how his altercation with 50 Cent made Nigerian companies recognize Nigerian musicians, who they had previously dismissed as inconsequential.
Although it had an impact on my career, Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, and everyone else alive today were all born as a result of that lovely sacrifice. They are using their private jets for flights now.
Eedris continued, saying that he takes delight in carrying out God’s will and doing what was right, even though the stars do not recognize his sacrifices
