With effect from September 1, 2025, the Nigeria Immigration Service has announced an increase in the cost of getting the Nigerian Standard Passport.
The increased fees would only be applied to applications submitted within Nigeria, per a statement signed on Thursday by ACI AS Akinlabi, the Service Public Relations Officer.
According to the announcement, “the review, which only affects passport application fees made in Nigeria, has set new fee thresholds for 32-page applications with a 5-year validity of N100,000 and 64-page applications with a 10-year validity of N200,000.”
The statement made it clear that the $150 application price for a 32-page, five-year passport and the $230 application fee for a 64-page, ten-year passport are still the same for Nigerians living abroad.
According to the service, the change was made to preserve the integrity and quality of the Nigerian passport while guaranteeing its accessibility for all citizens.
Just one year has passed since the Federal Government authorized an earlier upward adjustment in August 2024, which went into effect on September 1, 2024, when this most recent assessment was conducted.
The 64-page, 10-year passport booklet jumped from N70,000 to N100,000 at the time, and the 32-page, five-year booklet was raised from N35,000 to N50,000.
The Immigration Service went on to say that the raise was required to improve service performance and maintain the standard of the Nigerian passport.
