INEC to Commence Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) Nationwide on August 18

Ahead of the next elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission has declared that the 2025 countrywide Continuous Voter Registration drive has begun.

The Commission said on Friday through its X account that online pre-registration will begin on Monday, August 18, 2025, via its official website, cvr.inecnigeria.org.

Additionally, the Commission said that on Monday, August 25, 2025, in-person registration will open at all INEC Local Government Area offices and approved registration centers across the country.

The exercise is scheduled to take place Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Those eligible Nigerians who have not yet registered were encouraged by INEC to do so.

Additionally, voters were reminded by INEC that the CVR is not limited to new registrants.

“Requests to transfer registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards, and correct personal information like names and dates of birth are also accommodated by the process,” the statement continued.

The Commission stated, “Our goal is to ensure every eligible Nigerian has the opportunity to exercise their civic right,” underscoring its dedication to holding a credible election process. Our goal is to ensure that the voter registration process is inclusive, transparent, and accessible.
