The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has established 150 as the minimum score required for university admission for the 2025/2026 school year. This decision was revealed on Tuesday during the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
The board stated that the cut-off mark is 140 for colleges of nursing sciences, while both polytechnics and colleges of education have a cut-off mark of 100. For the next academic session, the minimum scores for admission are set at 150 for universities, 100 for polytechnics, 100 for colleges of education, and 140 for colleges of nursing sciences, according to JAMB’s announcement on its X handle.
It was reported that JAMB announced the highest scorer in the 2025 UTME as Okeke Chinedu Christian from Anambra State, who got 375 out of 400. JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ish-aq Oloyede, shared this during a policy meeting, noting that Okeke chose the University of Lagos for Mechanical Engineering. He was followed by Ayuba Simon-Peter John from Gombe State with a score of 374, who picked Afe Babalola University for the same course. Jimoh Abdulmalik Olayinka from Kwara State came third, scoring 373, also opting for the University of Lagos and Mechanical Engineering.
