Nigerian public institutions are required by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to complete their 2025 admissions procedures by October 31, 2025.
The board’s plan states that all private universities must finish admitting students by November 30, 2025, while all Nigerian postsecondary institutions, whether public or private, have until the end of the year.
This is contained in a weekly bulletin delivered by the board on Monday.
According to JAMB, the orders follow the agenda that was decided upon during the 2025 Policy Meeting, which was presided over by the Education Minister.
According to the admission board, the decision attempts to guarantee fair access to admission slots for all postsecondary schools and stabilize the academic calendar.
“All postsecondary institutions have been directed to complete their admissions procedures by the end of 2025 in accordance with the timetable below, in accordance with the directives issued at the 2025 Policy Meeting presided over by the Honourable Minister of Education:
“Public universities: To complete admissions by 31st October, 2025. Private universities: To complete admissions by 30th November, 2025. All other institutions (public and private): complete admissions by 31st December 2025
All institutions were urged by JAMB to complete admissions procedures well in advance of the due dates.
“An institution should conduct its admission and archive it, even if it is not yet prepared to start the new academic session.”
“By this policy directive, all admission processes must be concluded within the prescribed timelines.”
In order to adhere to the 2025 admission deadline, the directive also requires that institutions that conduct post-UTME screenings wrap up these procedures as soon as possible.
In order to adhere to the 2025 admissions schedule, “institutions conducting post-UTME screenings are expected to conclude those exercises in good time,” JAMB stated.
