Mass Distribution: Kwara Equips Pupils with Educational and Sports Resources

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State launched a major initiative on Thursday, distributing substantial educational and sports resources to primary and junior secondary schools.

The distribution included 73,365 textbooks across core subjects, 12,780 primary library sets, specialized education materials, furniture for early childhood development, 3,931 sports kits, agricultural tools, and 78 tablets.

The governor emphasized that this program reflects his administration’s strong commitment to basic education, aiming to significantly reduce the number of out-of-school children.

Represented by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Sa’adatu Kawu, he highlighted that the free distribution of textbooks is designed to ease the financial burden on parents amidst rising costs.

Further, he cited the administration’s efforts in teacher recruitment, promotion, and infrastructure upgrades as evidence of their dedication to improving the education sector.

The governor also expressed gratitude to the Universal Basic Education Commission and other stakeholders for their continuous support.

Muhammed Salihu, Chairman of the Kwara House Committee on Education, hailed the event as a landmark moment, praising the governor’s consistent investment in education and noting the state’s progress in addressing past shortcomings.

Professor Raheem Adaramaja, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, commended the governor’s commitment to enhancing basic education, stating that the distributed materials and sports kits will improve educational quality and promote holistic student development.

He emphasized that these resources will alleviate pressure on parents and students, reinforcing the belief that education is crucial for building future leaders.

The event was attended by various state officials, including Senior Adviser and Counsellor to the Governor, Saadu Salau; Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Aliyu Kora Sabi; Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Mrs. Bake Olarewaju; APC Chieftain, Alhaji Raheem Adedoyin; Senior Special Assistant on Religion (Islam), Alhaji Ibrahim Danmeigoro; Chairman, Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bola Magaji; Local Government Education Secretaries; traditional chiefs; and the President of the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Public Schools.
