Osimhen keen on Old Trafford switch

Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian international currently on loan at Galatasaray, is reportedly eager to join Manchester United during the upcoming summer transfer window, as he prepares to leave Napoli permanently.

According to TEAMtalk, Osimhen is “greatly appreciative” of Manchester United’s interest, with the English club emerging as a leading contender for his signature amidst competition from other top European clubs.

Osimhen’s impressive form this season, marked by 20 goals and five assists in 27 appearances, has solidified his reputation as a top European striker.

His availability for approximately £62 million (€75 million), due to a release clause in his contract, has attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Arsenal. Manchester United’s interest aligns with manager Ruben Amorim’s efforts to address the team’s goal-scoring challenges, particularly given Rasmus Hojlund’s struggles.

Reports have suggested that Manchester United might propose a swap deal, including Hojlund and approximately £33 million (€40 million), though recent information indicates they might trigger Osimhen’s release clause directly.

Additionally, Nigerian journalist Buchi Laba reported that Arsenal has also made official contact with Osimhen’s representatives and is prepared to activate his release clause.

Despite the speculation, Osimhen has remained non-committal about his future, emphasizing his focus on the present and his affection for Galatasaray.

He hasn’t ruled out extending his stay at the Turkish club, which reportedly had a €65 million bid rejected by Napoli. Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has insisted that any club interested in Osimhen must meet the €75 million release clause.

If Osimhen joins Manchester United, he would bring a proven goal-scoring record, with 76 goals in 133 appearances for Napoli and an impressive Champions League record.

Manchester United is expected to be active in the transfer market, seeking to strengthen their squad with four new signings, including a defensive midfielder, a centre-back, and a wing-back, in addition to a centre-forward.
