PDP Releases Timetable For Ondo Governorship Election
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee has officially released its election agenda for the upcoming Ondo State gubernatorial election.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the state’s governorship election to take place on November 16, 2024.
In preparation for the civic exercise, the PDP’s timetable, signed by the party’s national organizing secretary, Umar Bature, was displayed on a notice board at the PDP’s national office, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja, on Monday (today).
As per the timetable, the party’s congress, where the governorship candidate will be selected, is set to be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024.
“The sale of expression of interest, nomination forms, and Ad-hoc forms is slated for March 7 – March 21. March 25 is the deadline for submitting a completed expression of interest and Ad-hoc forms,” the timetable partly stated.
According to the PDP schedule, governorship candidates will undergo screening at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on March 27. The screening reports must be submitted by March 29.
Furthermore, April 2, 2024, has been designated as the date for appeals regarding the screening process. The ward congress, where 3-man Ad-hoc Ward Delegates will be elected, will take place on April 6-7. The ward congress appeals are scheduled for April 10.
The guidelines also specify that the Independent National Electoral Commission will receive the name of the governorship candidate by May 20. Additionally, the NWC of the party will certify the deputy governorship candidate on May 9.
