Police Reveals New Move In Fighting Kidnappers In Lagos
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Ayoade Fayoade, has announced that the police force has reinstated its tracking device to combat cases of kidnapping and one-chance incidents within the state.
Fayoade addressed these concerns raised by residents during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Friday.
He said, “We have measures in place, we have reactivated our tracking devices. We have our men in areas we have identified as kidnap-prone areas, like Igbogbo, Ijede, all this waterside, even Idimu area.”
“In the case of kidnap we had in Idimu, we were able to checkmate and neutralize, we got the victims into safety without paying the ransom demanded. We have good measures in place; internally too, we have our men, they’re more visible to take care of issues from one chance.
“We will not allow them to overwhelm us so they don’t raise their ugly heads,” Fayoade noted.
The Commissioner of Police stated that the state police command is specifically collaborating with the Ogun counterpart and other security agencies to combat crime in the border regions.
He further noted that the force is actively engaged in partnerships with the Armed Forces, the Civil Defence, and even the Neighbourhood Watch, with a focus on achieving tangible results.
Simultaneously, he said the force has established a strong partnership with its colleagues in Ogun.
These collaborative efforts, Fayoade said, are primarily concentrated in the border areas, where the security agencies have organized joint patrols for seamless inter-border operations.
