President Tinubu Orders Dangote, BUA, Others To Revert To Old Prices Of Cement
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instructed cement companies in Nigeria to return to previous prices following the increase in the cost of the commodity.
Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, disclosed the President’s verdict yesterday during his visit to the BUA cement factory in Sokoto State.“Mr President insisted that they should go back to the status quo as far as this cement price is concerned for the common man.“I want to encourage them to abide by the directive of Mr President so that we can achieve a massive housing program and the renewed hope agenda of concrete roads by the President,” the minister said.
Recall that the price of cement across the country has increased lately, with the construction substance increased to N10,000 in Abuja and N15,000, up from N5,000.In addition to cement, the prices of other construction materials have also significantly risen. In the previous month, the Nigerian government, under the guidance of the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, warned that they would allow cement imports if manufacturers did not reduce their prices.
