Zuri Marley selected two of the biggest names in Nigerian music as the musicians her grandfather would have preferred to work with.
The granddaughter of Bob Marley desires that he collaborate with Fela & Burna Boy.
As one of the most popular musicians from Africa, Burna Boy is a Nigerian megastar who is selling out concerts and taking home numerous accolades.
When asked which musician she would have preferred her late grandfather to work with, Zuri, the late reggae icon’s granddaughter, said she would have preferred Burna Boy and Fela Kuti in an interview conducted on the red carpet at the premiere of Bob Marley’s new film, “One Love.

Many listeners would not be surprised by Zuri’s selection, as two performers whose music has attained exceptional international popularity are Burna Boy and the late Afrobeat icon Fela Kuti.

Similar to Bob Marley, Fela constantly clashed with military governments because he used his music as a weapon against the social and cultural inequality that was pervasive in Nigeria.

Burna Boy is not an activist like Bob Marley or Fela Kuti, but he has produced music that draws attention to the pervasive injustice and corruption in Nigeria.

The film “One Love,” which is based on the life of the legendary reggae musician, was recently released by Bob Marley’s estate in association with Universal Music. An EP including renditions of several Bob Marley songs by Nigerian musicians Wizkid and Bloody Civilian was also released in conjunction with the album.

Zuri Marley’s goal of working with Fela Kuti and Burna Boy might come true as Bob Marley’s estate is consistently releasing posthumous recordings.
