Chisom Obih has been selected by President Bola Tinubu to the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Governing Council in Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State.
Obih was appointed after a council member passed away.
Additionally, Tinubu named renowned communications expert Prof. Ralph Akinfeleye to the Obafemi Awolowo University Governing Council in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, signed a press release on Tuesday revealing this.
According to the release, Akinfeleye is the Chairman of the Center of Excellence in Multimedia and Cinematography/Unilag Radio 103.1 FM and Television and the former Head of the University of Lagos’ Department of Mass Communication.
“Mr. Wahab Owokoniran, who was appointed Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Federal University of Transport, Daura, Katsina State, is replaced by Akinfeleye, a former member of the Governing Council of Yakubu Gowon University of Abuja,” the statement read.
According to the release, Prof. Ibrahim Adamu Yakasai was appointed Vice Chancellor of thtttinue Federal University of Health Sciences and Technology in Tsafe, Zamfara State, by the President.
Usman Nakazalle Sanusi was named the university’s bursar, Dr. Shehu Aminu Liman as its librarian, and Mr. Hamisu Yusuf Yelwa as its registrar by the president.
The provost of Bayero University’s College of Health Sciences in Kano is Prof. Yakasai, a former colonel from the Nigerian Army. In addition, he is a member of the Federal University of Health Sciences’ governing council in Otukpo, Benue State, and the head of the Committee of Provosts of Colleges of Medicine in Nigeria.
He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria with an MBBS. Later, he received a grant from the European Economic Commission to pursue postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom, where he was awarded a fellowship and membership in the esteemed Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
After earning a Master’s degree in Medical Education from the University of Winchester, Professor Yakasai traveled to the United States to seek fellowships with the American College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons, FICS (USA).
It further stated that he was the Director-General of the Kano State Hospitals Management Board.
