The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reported that two individuals lost their lives and 15 others sustained injuries in a single-vehicle accident involving a Toyota Hiace bus on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the FRSC in Ogun, confirmed the tragic incident on Thursday in Abeokuta.
According to Okpe, the accident took place at 4:34 p.m. on Thursday and was attributed to a tyre burst, which led to a loss of control, causing the bus to overturn and crash.
She detailed that there were 18 occupants in the bus, identified by the registration number LSR 585 YH, including nine men, five women, two boys, and two girls.
The spokesperson indicated that among the injured, there were eight men, four women, two boys, and one girl, while the fatalities included one man and one woman.
The injured individuals were transported to PATMAG Hospital in Ogere, and the deceased were taken to the morgue at the State General Hospital in Isara.
Okpe also mentioned that Sector Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin urged motorists to exercise greater caution regarding their vehicles, particularly during periods of heavy traffic.
