Viral reports that Nigeria’s exhibit at the Tokyo International Conference on African Development in Japan was left unmanned have prompted a response from the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Remember how Idris Bello, a conference attendee, said on X (previously Twitter) that, in contrast to other nations present, Nigeria’s display booth was the only one without representatives?
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, however, denied the allegations in a post on X on Wednesday, stating that the booth had not yet been formally opened.
“The Nigerian booth at #TICAD9 has not yet been opened, despite a tweet from a TICAD participant,” the message stated.
“On Thursday, August 21, 2025, the booth will be formally inaugurated. Following that, it will be fully operational and serve the TICAD delegates.”
Ahead of the three-day summit, which is anticipated to take place from August 20 to 22, President Bola Tinubu landed in Tokyo on Monday.
